NPP RECALLS AMBASSADORS AHEAD OF NEW ADMINISTRATION INAUGURATION
Several Ghanaian communities across the globe report their Ambassadors being recalled to pave way for the new NDC administration to appoint their replacements. Countries with recalled Ambassadors include Brazil, Czech Republic, and South Africa, with the Ambassador to Türkiye replaced shortlybefore the mass recall.
These revelations were made at the recent Ghlobal General Assembly Meeting held virtually.
PARTISANSHIP HINDERING UNITY AMONG GHANAIANS OVERSEAS
Party affiliations are hindering unity efforts among Ghanaians overseas, Ghlobal Delegates report. In two examples, efforts to rope in delegates to the Ghlobal Diaspora Council from Ghanaian communities in The Republic of Ireland and Spain were rejected when the Ghlobal country reps extending the invitation were seen as members of the the NPP and NDC respectively.
This despite the Ghlobal Diaspora Council being a non-partisan organization.
TRUMP-INFLUENCED FAR RIGHT WING WAVE MAKING IMMIGRANTS NERVOUS
The trend of political victories and expected victories by far right political parties in western countries is making immigrants including Ghanaians in those countries nervous.
Ghanaians in Canada are reporting a wave of border crossings from the United States by immigrants fleeing the country ahead of Trump’s threatened mass deportation. In Germany, Ghanaians fear that the recent law permitting dual citizenship will be reversed by the far right party when it wins power in February.
SOUTH AFRICA NO LONGER HIRING FOREIGN PROFESSIONALS
The era of South Africa actively employing skilled professionals from other African countries appears to have come to an end.
Andrew Kyereh, Ghlobal Diaspora Council’s alternate rep from Douth Africa reports that the country now produces an adequately flow of locals to take up positions that they needed foreigners to fill in the past.
GHANA CARD PILOTING IN CANADA STILL ONGOING
The inssuance of Ghana Cards to Ghanaian nationals that the National Identification Authority (NIA) began in Canada on a pilot basis back in September is said to be still ongoing.
At the General Assembly Meeting of the Ghlobal Diaspora Council, Emmanuel Kwaku Duodu, president of the Alliance of Ghanaian/Canadian Association reported that he was encourage to see the second generation Ghanaians in Canada expressing more interest than their Ghanaian-born counterparts.
VIETNAM ARRESTING CHURCH OF PENTECOST SIGNATORIES FOR NEW CHURCH
Authorities in Vietnam are reported to be arresting Ghanaians who participated in a signatory drive for the Church of Pentecost to build a new church in the Southeast Asian country. In one instance, a Ghanaian lost his job after Vietnamese immigration showed up asking questions about him. Christianity is said to be abhorred in the predominantly Hindu country.
GHANAIAN MIGRANTS OUTSTRIP GLOBAL AVERAGE
With Ghlobal Diaspora Council’s estimate of the Ghanaian Diaspora population at 3.4million, one of every ten Ghanaians lives outside the borders of the west African nation.
That ratio places Ghana far ahead of the global average, as reported by the World Migration Report, of one of every 30 national living outside their home country.
